EIV News provides roughly 135 unique positions for Emerson Students to participate in all aspects of news gathering, pre-production, and television production. The primary objective of EIV News is to train Emerson Students in a variety of skills that will prepare students for a career in journalism, broadcasting or technical production.

Every semester, EIV News assembles unique news teams to produce a variety of different newscasts. Each newscast has specific goals and objectives, and each newscast operates independently under the corresponding Executive Producers. Several staff positions, such as News Director, Assistant News Director, Chief Photographer, and the Web Producer are bureau positions and do not fall within a specific show.
